Songs Of The Weeks: 3/16-3/29- LAST POST

As promised, here is the doubled up SOTW, 57 & 58.

This is also the last post until I decide otherwise. At the moment, it feels as if all inspiration has packed its bags and told me to kiss its ass on the way out.

Blog and all links are alive and I will be moderating comments, even the anonymously posted ones geared at winding me up.

See you when I see you....hopefully sooner than later.

Thanks for your patience.

Enjoy the music.

  1. That Little Village track always chokes me up. For today, I'll think of it as "Don't Read This Post While You Drive" ... hope you're inspired to return sooner than later. In the meantime, thanks for making our days more interesting.

  2. Thanks, Sal. James' "sooner than later" comment is pretty much what I was going to say. Your blog is a pleasure and an education.

  3. Sal,

I know I speak for many when I say how much I appreciate all that you do for us. My record collection is much richer for your fine guidance.

And it must be exhausting and perhaps threatening to have to "perform" for us all the time.

Please never let Burning Wood be a burden. If and when you recharge and want to share we'll be here.

    Many thanks!

Agree with everyone here... my iPod is replete with Sal-chosen tunes, and the discussions are always great. Here's hoping your recharging works its wonders and you return with more pearls of musical wisdom as you always have.

    Cheers!

  7. Go take whatever time you need, refill the tank and come back when you're ready. I'll miss the daily ritual of checking in and checking out the new stuff you turn me on to.If I can wait for Jeter I can wait for you.

  9. Sal --

One of your best playlists ever.

And take as much time off as you want...you've fricking earned ten times over.

    But come back soon, obviously.

  11. Tell me it's just a rumor baby. I gotta find a way to get you back. Baby (don't you leave me). You can come right back to me. Think it over (before you break my heart). And other cool tunes "discovered" by me after following up some of the artists in your SOTW & Weekend Mixes. Thanks for the tutorials & hope to see you again before too long. Cheers!

  12. Sal, sorry to hear you are having a rough patch - knock 'em out and come back refreshed! Thought of you and your great weekly mixes when I saw this notice today:

I remember that song on one of your mixes, and it's been a favorite since. (Somehow I'd never known it previously - like many of your choices)

  15. I don't comment very often, but am a frequent vistor who really values your wit and erudition. (And I, too, spent many years in the Record Store beanfields, so a music blog that really impresses me is really saying something.) You've earned a break, Sal, but I do hope that you mosy back eventually. Are you coming to Jazz Fest? I'd STILL be honored to buy you a beer on Frenchmen Street.. -Bill Buckner

  16. Mark me down as another regular visitor who rarely comments but who appreciates BW very much. Until I see a post that says "Boarded Up" I'll keep checking back.

In the meantime, thanks again Sal. The kindergarden teachers would say that you share well with others.

  20. Just back from a week in the heartland... I'll just repeat what a waitress in Omaha said to me the other day:
"You be sure to visit is again if you're passin' this way, OK hon?"

  21. Just wanted to say "A Whole Lot Better" is one of those amazing songs that actually has multiple hooks in it -- and each hook actually works. An expertly crafted song by any stretch.
