If you took a billion indie musicians in a billion bedroom studios during a billion unemployed hours you could not have come up with the recording of the Belles' "Melvin"!
I love it on so many levels that this recording could exist!! Rock and Roll will live forever long after the universe has turned to dust!
That's great! It's also on a comp called "Basement Beehive, The Girl Group Underground", released by Numero Group. I wonder if Melvin was a guy they knew?
MOULTY! (Oh, wait, that's a different song...)
ReplyDeleteWords absolutely fail me. 😎
ReplyDeleteOne of the highlights of the Garage Punk Unknowns Vol.4 compilation on Stone Age Records (seemingly Crypt Records).

Great find. It appears they show up on something like 10 different compilations. This is from Girls In The Garage Vol. 1 or maybe Vol. 1-6?
ReplyDeleteHilarious. They got the 6 letter spelling, but couldn't they find a name with 3 syllables as well? This should've been the theme to the show Alice
