Well worth the trek. I find most of your musical selections most agreeable -- especially the New Orleans orientated music and artists such as Richard Thompson. Though I am still trying to come to terms with some of your heroes -Todd Rundgren for one, but I am willing to listen and be converted.
Also find useful your (in) frequent comments on new albums that are released. CDs are so expensive and there is so much good new music out there that it is useful to have a filter! Keeps the music coming - and let it Pour down like Silver!Kodak Ghostnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4357001616333664522.post-47614192979091562542011-04-19T12:05:43.972-07:002011-04-19T12:05:43.972-07:00Sal: Glad you're back up and running. What is it about record searchers that they can't be courteous ?while going through boxes of LPs or singles for that matter. A couple months ago, you posted a mix that included the Ahmad Jamal song "Poinciana."

I've long listened to jazz kind of as a side venture from my main obsessions: power pop, soul, singer-songwriter/Americana. So anyway, I fell in love with this song by Ahmad! I mean, couldn't get it out of my head. Little did I know it's kind of a jazz standard of sorts that has been famous among some folks for decades.

So, to today. Today is -- I hope ALL of you reading this know -- 2011 Record Store Day. Which means it's up to us to get out and support physical stores and buy some of the stuff that these excellent blogs lead us to, right? So, today I found Ahmad's "Pershing Point" live LP from '58 with that magical song on it, and it's blowin' my mind.

So thanks for leading me to that, Sal. And remember, support your local indie record stores!

Cheers
BillAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4357001616333664522.post-24045142215371310562011-04-16T18:39:55.181-07:002011-04-16T18:39:55.181-07:00Hang in there Brother Sal,

That was the nickname of Lou and Arnold's little brother (see how I met your blogger). When that song came out, he used to sing 'Charley of Love', thinking those were the lyrics. Picture this little meatball (he was maybe seven or eight), walking down the street singing 'Charley, Charley, Charley of Love'. It was hysterical.

P.S.
