My two cents:
Growing up, it was all about Jimmy Page, until I was old enough to realize, Jeff Beck was the one all along. I still believe in that Holy Trinity of Guitar--Eric, Jimmy and Jeff. But the one thing Jeff could do that the other two couldn't, was make whatever he was part of better.

Simply The Best.
ReplyDeleteI believe Jeff called Brian May "The Guvnor" as well.
ReplyDeleteI only saw Jeff once. It was back in 2009 at the Rock HOF show at MSG. Jeff was a last minute fill in for Clapton. He did about an hour long set that included guests Buddy Guy and Billy Gibbons. In a night that featured sets from U2, Metallica and Aretha, his was the best.
ReplyDeleteRIP Mr Beck
Here, Here.

How is this possible?
ReplyDeleteLast night I revisited the Ronnie Scott BluRay starting at the end with the JB interview.
Once again, essential viewing and the concert is a must watch.
I saw Jeff Beck in Berlin in 2014 where he displayed a virtuosity that few come close to.
Beckology is a nice overview and is currently on the RTR Turntable
Like the Queen, for many people of my age group Jeff was always there - and yes we bopped to Hi-Ho Silver Lining.
RIP He was amazing creative to the end.
