I actually have a like new deluxe boxed set of Anthology on laserdisc video. Can't play it anymore, cause I don't have a laserdisc player, and even if I did it would look lousy because the discs weren't bumped up to HD, but it's gotta be some kind of collector's item for hardcore beatlemaniacs, no? 😎
You know, I have never been off The Beatles. They have been a constant in my listening for my whole life. I've never tired of them. Maybe once in a while, I don't need to hear "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" for a year. But mostly, I can listen to any one of their albums every day. That said, what astonishes me is how after 60 years, I could read a book like "John & Paul: A Love Story In Songs" and still feel like I am learning something more about the music.
It wasn't meant to be complete. Four of the first five songs (chapters) aren't even Lennon/McCartney tunes. I'm assuming the author was trying to create a "love story" based on certain songs and how they brought John & Paul together.
The book speaks more about the author, whoever that guy is, than about Lennon & McCartney. I find disgusting to try to create that noise around two guys who were that close. Maybe I am too old, from a time when friendship was not under scrutiny. Just a humble opinion. Roy
Roy, the book doesn't say John and Paul were actual lovers, just best mates with a shared love of music who communicated to each other thru songs, even after the band broke up. That's all, really.
I'm excited to see Anthology all over again. It was very well done. And bring on the ten hour version of Get Back! And how about interactive Beatles website where we can play various elements of a song, like only vocals here and just sitar there and so on? If Paul can do it with Rick Rubin, why not us? Plus the Wings doc looks really interesting. I too never tire of the Beatles or Bob Dylan or Frank Sinatra.

I am always astonished at the work they produced when I go back and revisit their albums after a while of not playing them.

Really looking forward to watching this again. I have to say, I'm less interested in the outtakes/works in progress. The albums keep me satisfied.
