That's What Life Is All About- The Beat
Irene- Guitar Gable w/King Karl
Brand New Second Hand- The Wailers
Same Time Same Place- Mable John
Little Martha- Allman Brothers Band
Anyway- Genesis
No Sir- The Both
This week's mix covers a lot ground, from perfect power pop, to perfect reggae, to perfect R&B from the swamps of Louisiana. And the miracle of music is, Mable John into the ABB into Genesis into Aimee Mann and Ted Leo, sounds perfect, too!
Enjoy!
One more thing before you go--
I am running a SNOWMAGGEDON record sale over at my Discogs page. Lots of great records for ridiculous prices. There are plenty of solid titles left, as it seems all of my customers are saving their money for snow blowers.
Load up your cart and I will ship these out later this week, assuming my heart doesn't explode digging myself out.

HI Sal, You obviously know records and I have something I wondered about the value. About 20+ years ago my roommate worked for Capitol Records. She did not care for The Beatles and gave me all Parlophone releases sealed. They have a promotional stamp on them and are all sealed. I was told they weren't really worth much but I wasn't sure. Thank you for your time and expertise.
Well they worth something.
First, sealed Beatles are worth more than opened Beatles.
Second, you rarely see promo stamps on Beatles records. That's a good thing.
What year were these released? I'm guessing 2009.
Stereo or MONO. That also makes a difference.
Hi Sal, some say stereo and some say mono. Since I have been with my wife for over 20 years, and prior had another roommate for a couple of years that time frame could be close. The discs are sealed but the covers aren't as they had put a gold stamp on them indicating it was a promotional copy. I was always grateful that my old roommate didn't care for The Beatles so I ended up with other items as well like the Anthology and BBC series on Cassette. Thank you for your time and expertise.
Anonymous- Selling them yourself is a hassle- shipping, handling payments, complaints, etc. Sell them to Sal and save yourself the headache, and he pays better than any local used record store will give you. I mean, if they're sealed, you're not listening to them.
Hi Cleveland Jeff, they have never been played. I think my feeling is I wanted to see if they were worth much and if it was more realistic to hold onto them for a while longer if the value might increase drastically. I don't currently have a working turntable but may get one when I go to my storage unit to dig out my old albums. I've got some wacky stuff like the original Wild Man Fischer Album as well as all the original Bowie albums I won in a contest with a signed lithograph from the 1978 tour. He redrew over the limited litho but unfortunately his signature and number of the print in pencil faded.
I enjoyed Irene and tried a compilation from Guitar Gable that I found via streaming. Wonderful.

It's a crap shoot. Prices have gone up and down, and it seems lots of buyers have reduced how much they are buying. But I'm pretty sure what you have hasn't decreased in value as Beatles stuff, especially rarities, seems to hold its value. If you're going to listen to them at some point, sure, keep them. But if they are worth significant bucks you could sell them and buy perfectly good copies for less for your own listening pleasure. I. doubt that they will increase drastically at this point.
