If It Was Dwight Twilley, You'd Be All Over It

From 1982 and arguably his best album "High Adventure," please give a listen to Kenny Loggins and what I think is the closest he ever got to power pop.

Actually, I've loved "Swear Your Love" since I first heard it 44 years ago, but it was only recently that I starting hearing Dwight Twilley. Close your eyes, focus your ears and damn if this track wouldn't sit comfortably on "Scuba Divers."

Loggins and Messina were a great band. I saw them live in 75 with Fleetwood Mac opening. Their first 4 studio albums and the live album are great listens

That opening guitar riff, that drum pattern, yes, I hear it. Twilley.

I had no idea that there was a "best" Kenny Loggins record.
I saw Loggins and Messina live also, with Little River Band opening . LRB were also good live. After buying all L and M records, the only one I have left is Mother Lode. It still sounds good. The softer side of Kenny Loggins is seriously cringeworthy.

I saw Fleetwood Mac live two years later in 1977 and Kenny Loggins was the opening act. He was touring in support of his Celebrate Me Home album and he was great.

I saw Kenny a number of times, maybe 4 or 5 between 1981-1987. Always a great show. It's fine if you're not a fan. But-

This Is It
Heart To Heart
What A Fool Believes
I'm Alright
Keep The Fire
No Lookin' Back
Whenever I Call You Friend
Love Has Come Of Age
Mr. Night
I Gotta Try
Swear Your Love
If It's Not What You're Looking For

--are all amazing pieces of pop music, and hardly cringeworthy.

"Footloose," on the other hand, is kinda cringey.

Love it! And that list of songs you shared above is packed with great ones. I'd forgotten about "Whenever I Call You "Friend". And that list doesn't even include gems from Loggins/Messina, right?

OK, maybe I haven't given Kenny a chance.

1980’s Kenny Loggins Alive has about half of the above songs and is most enjoyable. :)
