Clicking to YouTube from here led to me seeing a vid of Irma, Dolly Parton, Dr. John and Allen Toussaint doing a spirited version of Working In A Coalmine, which was unexpectedly great. And then I clicked on Today's Cover Version, and that was great, too! Thanks! C in California
Oh man!!! Ry Cooder and Buckwheat Zydeco playing with the Soul Queen of New Orleans!!!! And I thought the studio version with Sonny Landreth's slide could never be topped.
Here's the video that C in California was referring to in his post. Its from the old Storyville Music Club. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FWEKKN1TAms
Saw her last week at French Quarter Fest and she hasn't lost a thing. She's still singing "It's Raining" and "You Can Have My Husband, But Please Don't Mess With My Man" in the same keys she originally recorded them! She's 83!
Irma is the best.
ReplyDeleteLove Irma!
