He looks old, but hell, so do I. I can't recall ever seeing Pete so funny, animated, engaged and just not guarded or hostile. Fantastic interview. Colbert will be sorely missed.
I genuinely thought Pete was coming with something deep at the end, and "Make another record lazy ass" was just hilarious. It is not fun to read his quotes when he's not in a good mood, but it's really fun and insightful to see him talk when he's in this type of mood, so kudos to Colbert! Bryan
That was worth every minute of my life - I laughed at his Owsley story as that brought me back to '71 and my first time with the "surrealistic pillow" 😉 Saw him cica '68 - guitar smashing and all
Fun stuff! I kind of wish they'd stuck to music as the source of conversation, because that's what I love most about Pete's interviews. But this is good.
I feel like The Who is far underrated compared to Beatles and Stones. I feel like I see 100 loving articles or posts about either of those great bands compared to folks mentioning The Who or Pete solo.
I have been meaning to watch that clip for ages -- thanks for posting. It's wonderful.
