"Geraint Watkins & The Dominators"- THE WEEKEND MIX
I mentioned a few weeks ago just how much I was enjoying the new Geraint Watkins release "In A Bad Mood."
The longtime sideman of Nick Lowe has been making records since the seventies and his first, "Geraint Watkins & The Dominators" has yet to see its release on CD.
On his debut, which is here in its entirety, The Dominators run through a dozen or so rock and roll classics with a bit of a New Orleans and Cajun twist. (Watkins DOES play the accordion.) I'm thinking Nick Lowe meets Professor Longhair.
Enjoy.

Did you transcribe this from vinyl yourself?
Neil
PS thanks for your very nice comments on GW
Thanks Neil. The CD was given to me by an old friend who has since passed on. He had been working for me at my CD shop and was intrigued by something I was listening to, The Balham Alligators. He had no idea it was GW, so he surprised me with this burn.
I saw Geraint with Dave Edmunds back in the 80's. Great piano player. Bad phase for DE (his Jeff Lynne phase was a low point for both), good band, though, with Mickey Gee on guitar.
Slightly off-topic: "Written in Chalk" is awesome! Thanks for the heads-up. My favorite songs are the ones that sound like they decided to use Joe South's opening lick to "Chain of Fools" as their starting point. Down, dirty, and heartfelt.
any chance on a repost?
Cheers from Holland.
Robokok,
The zip has ben updated.
Thanks for the note.
What a delight to find this! I won't even complain about it being a low res mp3. I've been a Watkins fan for years and will see him next Tuesday for the first time - he's touring with Nick Lowe.
Cheers.
Do You by any chance have The Balham Alligators records aswell?

Hi,
this is a really good upload. But it seems that a password is required?
I can't find any password anywhere?
Thank's for the upload anyway.
Stefan
Stefan,
Just checked and upload is fine. No password required. Please refresh and try again.

Hi Sal,
this is so weird. I've tried to unzip the file with two different Zip-programs now. BetterZip, the one I normally use, says that I need a password for the file. The other one, Zipeg, says that the file is corrupted.
To be sure that the download was ok I also downloaded it two separate times. And the result was the same.
Is there any special Zip-program you use or recommend?
Thanks for the response!
Hopefully there's a way to sort this out.
I really like Geraint and I actually met him in Stockholm when he was here playing with Nick Lowe. If it was possible I would by this album, but it's not that common here in Sweden where I live...
Stefan
Stefan,
Again, everything on this end is fine. File is not corrupt, no passwords, etc.
I used RAR Expander to unzip.
Leave a comment with your e-mail address. I won't post it. I want to try something.
Thank you, thank you, thank you. I have been looking for this vinyl for 25+ years; The closest I got was in the late 80s at a record convention in Brighton, England. I asked all the vendors for Geraint, and nobody knew who I was talking about. I did find the 45 of Nobody b/w My Baby Left Me, so it wasn't a total blowout. This is a Welsh extravaganza! Great stuff, and RIP Mickey.

Thanks for this. I had the album on cassette, years ago 9and lost it, years ago!)
Would be great if GW would tour, with a band. Unlikely, but it'd be splendid.
Cheers.
