After more than 20 years at the NBC sports desk in NYC, the class act known as Len Berman was let go. NBC decided not to renew his contract, 8 consecutive Emmy Awards notwithstanding.
This is not your typical Burning Wood post, but this truly saddened me. Talent, intelligence, and savvy used to matter. Brains and class used to be a dangerous thing. But the firing of Len Berman is one more example of why New York is no place for the old, not even someone as young as a brilliant 60 year old man who excelled at his job.
