"Rare Lu" " THE HOLIDAY WEEKEND MIX

I found the "Rare Lu" CD online about a year or so ago. Nice little collection, maybe a bit heavy on latter day demos. I decided to replace a few of what I felt were the weaker tracks with some other winners. That's it. Plain & simple. Here's some Lucinda Williams.

Pyramid Of Tears
Can't Let Go
Breakfast In Bed w/ Donnie Fritts
Blue w/ Elvis Costello
Mamas Don't Let Your Babies Grow Up To Be Cowboys
Big Road Blues
Get Right With God (Remix)
Positively 4th Street
Joy
For What It's Worth (live)
Gentle On My Mind

Sal,

The new Levon, which I am just beginning to digest, is great so far. And it reminded me of the original Rick Danko solo album, which is pretty impossible to find anywhere.

Any ideas on where I could get it in CD form, or even just as a download?

if you have any ideas, shoot me an email when you get a second.

Thanks! Love the blog. It's on my google reader so I always know when there's a new post.

Thank you Burning Wood for your July 4th Holiday tribute to " Queen Lu "............

ATT : Chris, I proably have the Rick Danko solo CD you are lookin' for & can get it to you via Burning Wood, if you want....BAND brothers stick together...

Listening to " Electric Dirt " as I write.....

Be careful Burning Wood, you are on " hallowed ground " when writing bout' THE BAND....( your review of Electric Dirt ) "
And I take issue with you describing LEVON as " underappreciated ". Those " in the know ", including you, are aware he invented a totally new style of drumming similar to Nobody. He will, use different parts of the drum to create a " sound "...I can't even describe it...but you know it when you hear it...
i.e. Ringo, Keith Moon, Jim Keltner, Gene Parsons ( Byrds ), Russ Kunkel...

Jeez Meanstreets, even when I cater to you, you give me warnings.

I could that Danko myself, if you're offering

You are doing a fine job with this blog, Burning Wood, especially considering that I am unaware of most of the " stuff " you post...
But be aware, when you take a " shot across the bow " of my " roots " brothers ", I will be here to respond....
You have a good & safe holiday, & will see you on down the road.....

Where's the "shot?" That's what I'm not getting.

Meanstreets said...

You took no shot at Levon, but he is not " underappreciated ".

I was just speakin' in general.

Thanks for Lu.

Being appreciated by your fans is not the same thing. I am not so much of a Return To Forever fan, but I can certainly appreciate what an amazing drummer Lenny White. I rarely see Levon's name come up when talking about drummers. THAT is underappreciation.

Who is Lenny White ?

He must be underappreciated....

Now you have taken a shot at LEVON !!!
All 5 BAND members were " masters at their instruments ", and they all played many different types....

Nevermind.

This guy Meanstreets is a jerk Sal . You shouldn't even respond to him util he learns how to talk.

"All 5 BAND members were " masters at their instruments ", and they all played many different types...."
Types of what ,you jerk ? types of instruments ? Types of music ?
There are people who get it and people who don't . I think this guy's the latter.

Hey Anon,

Meanstreets is a loyal reader. He has enough issues for a magazine rack, but I prefer the passion over the apathy.

Hey Anonymous.....Was I talkin' to you?
