"SHA-LA-LA-LA, PUSH PUSH"

Because in just a few days, one of my favorite bands of all-time, a band I was completely obsessed with from 1973-1975, and even still now a bit, a band I was never able to see live, Mott the Hoople will be playing a string of reunion shows at the Hammersmith Odeon in England, and I won't be there.

This is a hard one but I'll be fine.

I know the feeling -- I'd kill to see one of those reunion shows.

And I was lucky enough to see them live several times back in the day -- including the original lineup pre-All the Young Dudes.

I stood next to Ian Hunter at a bar in Woodstock, NY one time. He was very, very short.

That's all I've got.

Sal, you only live once. Get thee to Expedia.

Other than that, what a bummer!

On one of M. Simels's Power Pop Listomanias, I listed this as one of the songs I couldn't believe wasn't a big hit. I was never a MtH fan, but this song has everything, enough to indicate to me I should revisit their work.

Dear Sal:

I saw Mott 3 times. They were good live but not great. The albums were better. While I would also enjoy seeing them in a few days I will not be crushed missing them. Missing the Zombies hurt.

Enjoy the bootleg recordings (and in all likelihood the soon to be released DVD set) that will follow.

I will have to be contend to live vicariously through Mr. Simels' experiences. Love this band, and especially those late singles that never translated into radio play in the US.
