"Merry Christmas From Asbury Park" : THE WEEKEND MIX
This compilation is something I found. I had nothing to do with putting it together. Credit should be be given to someone. I just don't know who.
Here's the story, in the words of the anonymous philanthropist who did all the work:
My goal was to create a one-disc sampler of the best tracks from the Asbury Park Convention Hall holiday shows--structured loosely along the lines of a typical show. I tried to include a good mix of Christmas favorites and essential Springsteen tracks.
Needless to say, whittling down such an amazing run of shows to one disc was a difficult endeavor. I chose 12/17/00 for the bulk of the tracks since the 2000 holiday shows featured the most E Street Band involvement. The spoken introductions are severely edited. But the music has been untouched. All tracks excluding the final bonus track are cross-faded so that the disc runs like a continuous show.
Of course, the collection reflects my own personal tastes and prejudices. Numerous available holiday tunes from these shows have been omitted due to time constraints. Those looking for a compilation of all the holiday songs performed at these shows can find it elsewhere.
Thanks to everyone who taped and shared the original recordings and to EV2 for his fantastic work.

Hey, what's with all the Springsteen on here? Are you a fan site?
Al Tozzi
I love steve van zandt, but like robbie robertson and steve stills, he shouldn't be singing anything. "I don't wanna go home" is on my list of ten-favorite rock songs, but steve nearly does this live version in.
Not a fan site Al, just a fan. I'm guessing the Bruce stuff will ease up now the tour is over.
Welcome to brucespringsteen.com....
Norah Jones' new CD " The Fall " is extremely well done....can I mention that here ?
Sal -- muchos muchos gracias for this Springsteen xmas set, just fantastic. Also been meaning to thank you for that great version of "Twilight" from a couple weeks back. A couple book suggestions: don't know if you personally know Ned Sublette, but his "The World That Made New Orleans: From Spanish Silver To Congo Square" and "The Year Before The Flood: A Story Of New Orleans" are worth your time. Thanks again, Merry Christmas, and a good 2010.
Maybe 4 or 5 years ago, Burning Wood, at one of his retail stores, " gave " me Chip Taylor's " The London Sessions ".
I'm sure he does not remember, but I do, everytime I play it.....
I "gave" something to you and you still torment me, Meanstreets. I love my readers. Just like family.
Bit of a change of pace here tonight on 23rd. St. Sal....
It's " Bakersfield " night here with Merle Haggard, Buck Owens, Lefty Frizzell, Dave Alvin, Dale Watson & Roger Wallace...
Oh yeah, also McKinnley Morganfield, at very high levels...
Burning Wood, is it " humanly " possible to play " Mudcrutch " TOO loud ???
I think not.....
I hate Bruce, please stop writing about this guy all the time,he's sooooo boring. Keep writing about great artists like Stanton Moore and Kristina Train.
