Very sad news. I was at JF in 2007 when he was supposed to play, but was a no-show. I was front and center at Fais Do-Do, and was disappointed that he cancelled. But his backing band went on anyway, and what a band it was: Sonny Landreth, Marcia Ball, Dr John, and Shannon McNally. The stories in the paper that weekend made it sound like he had a lot of demons, so I hope he is finally free of those and can find peace.

Just found a link to an Offbeat piece that had a clip from that JF set in 2007. I think this was around the time I fell in love with Ms McNally :)
