"WHO DAT" : The Weekend Mix

You must have seen this coming.

With Mardi Gras just two weeks away, and the Saints about to hand it to the elder Manning and his Colts on Sunday, I would be remiss if this "Weekend Mix" did not scream out "WHO DAT!"

So get out your best black and gold, put away your cranky pants, and get into it...if not the game, at least the mix.

If this music doesn't snap you out of...well...the type of mood I'VE been in, then it is time for your Spring thaw. (It worked for me, though I haven't put the cranky pants in storage just yet.)

Of course, if you're a Colts fan, maybe this mix is not for you. I'll work on some Nick Drake & Judee Sill for you guys.

We got the Tin Men spinning some Zeppelin. Bonerama twisting some Black Sabbath as well as adding some horns to Ok Go's cover of a Ziggy Stardust classic, with the great David Torkanowsky on piano. Jon Cleary, Donald Harrison Jr., and The Wild Magnolias put their stamp on some New Orleans classics, while Nicholas Payton and Kermit Ruffins take some very familiar melodies and add their gris-gris.

what happened to yesterday's post?

After a series of infantile e-mails from the guy who "gave me permission" to post it, permission I did not need but asked for because I was being a good guy I might add, I took it down.

The guy is treating the situation like I pissed on the Mona Lisa, simply because I converted his larger files to something easily downloadable for my readers.

His e-mails to me are just about coherent, threatening to write to the editors of The Huffington Post (whatever that means) and slander me (get in line, pal.)

I tried to handle this prifessionally, but this guy is a real boob.

Anyone who saw the post and wants the show, just e-mail me and I'll get it you. Fuck this guy.

I did download it and a great concert it is! That lossy/lossless debate is lost on me. It's supposed to be about sharing music.

Sal,

You know what they say ... "there are more horses asses in this world than there are horses!"

Great weekend mix today -- but do you think New Orleans is ready for the combination of Mardi Gras and The Saints in the Super Bowl?

Thanks for all your musical help.

Have a great weekend.

Hey Sal, isn't Accentuate the Positive by Sanchez and Boutte, not Sanchez and Cleary?

BOY, IS IT! Just corrected that. Thanks Kimball, and please send your address again.
