Steve Earle-Covertown : "THE WEEKEND MIX"

Thanks to an old friend who only recently discovered the brilliance that is Steve Earle, I got to see one of Steve's shows with "special guests" during his summer residency at City Winery. Magic was definitely in the air, as the Preservation Hall Jazz Band served as special guests on our night. The show was great, but that's not why I'm here.

I've been playing a lot of Steve Earle since that night, even added "Someday" to my band's "probably never gonna play live" set list. Then, this mix came to mind. I thought a nice collection Earle's covers would be a good way to close out the marathon...for me, anyway. Maybe you'll dig it, too.

All the tracks are live, by the way.

No Reply (The Beatles)
Francine (ZZ Top)
Dead Flowers (Rolling Stones)

I love this guy, and this is an absolutely killer compilation; I'm actually annoyed I didn't think of it first.

Thanks so much, is what I'm saying.
