Sunny To Share
I've always wanted to do this.
Bobby Hebb died on August 3rd. Mojo magazine says, "His classic 'Sunny,' written days after JFK's assassination and the murder of Hebb's own brother, was an attempt, he said, to 'pick myself up.'"
I've never heard a version of "Sunny" that I didn't like. THAT is how good this song is.
Here are 14 versions. I'm sorry I forgot Dusty Springfield's.
1. Bobby Hebb
2. Marvin Gaye
3. Stanley Turrentine
4. Booker T. & The Mgs
5. Rhett Miller
6. Eli Goulart
7. Georgie Fame
8. Wilson Pickett
9. John Walker
10. Stevie Wonder
11. Paul Carrack
12. Sonny & Cher
13. Electric Flag
14. Bill Cosby
If anyone has a version they love, please share it.

Bobby was a little deeper than most give him credit for.
Here's a post from August with a video of Mr. Hebb

the montage makes me think that the ultimate version would have been recorded by Sonny Liston.
I have no control over the art department.
and no version by Sebastian Cabot or William Shatner. I suppose we should be thankful for that.
this reminds me of a file I used to maintain (but have since lost) of different versions of "The Weight." I had about fifteen, including one by Ringo's band. It wasn't awful, thanks to Levon and Rick and a nice solo by Clarence Clemons.
I swear there is a version by Moms Mabley, but I cannot find it online.
Great idea. I've always loved James Brown's 1969 lounge-y take...

...a duet with someone named Dee Felice, I guess? Unfamiliar with her.
He must have made a nice piece of change from one song over the years. Assuming he owned the publishing, (probably not). Many covers of that one. The 4 Seasons did a decent one.
i love collections like this: obsessive and yummy. good day for it, too, with the storm a-blowin'.
Just to let you know, I think you have the Latino track mislabeled as Bill Cosby and vice versa. Check into it. Otherwise thanks very much.
