Mr. Soul, Mr Sam Butera

I've been wanting to post this since I first saw it this past September in New Orleans, as part of Joe Lauro's short film "Heroes Of The Ponderosa Stomp." I'm not sure why I had such a hard time tracking it down, but I think it had something to do with using both Prima AND Butera as key words. I don't know.

If you'd like, there is more about the Stomp here.

This clip made an impression on me and I can't stop watching it now.
(Well, I could. But I don't want to.)

Sam Butera's delivery really hit me hard.

Holy shit Sal...that is incredible. I ran right over to iTunes and picked up the track, credited to Gia Maione, Louis Prima, Sam Butera & The Witnesses. I think its taken from the same performance as the video. This little gem is a helluva way to ring in the New Year, my friend... Thanks!!!!!

Just swam today at Coney Island with Sal (thenewestPolarBear) and I just wanna weigh-in on this man that we, S&M (that's Sal & Me...) saw in a tent @ J-fest a few years ago...."Look Out!" should be his little mantra...this man is still dangerous in the best sense of the musical related definition. Just look at Louis to confirm. Happy New Year!

Not only does the performance leave an indelible impression upon the innocent bystander, but it perfectly captures all that is good about music in general. Even its great possitive emotion (even in sadness)takes a back seat to the searing synergy eminating from the stage. I was completely digging the reactionary animation of the non musician on stage. I think he was playing atmosphere! Anyway, a very new(to me), cool and genuine way to step up and say bring on the new year! Thanks!
