"The Sounds Of Simon" : THE WEEKEND MIX

This found me yesterday. A pretty nice, if a bit hollow-sounding club show from Mr. Paul Simon. The set list and band is fantastic. So, really...that's it.

Enjoy!

thanks very much, Sal, need something to pull us through the cold grey April rain here in Chicago.

This looks wonderful...thanks. A good Friday indeed.

& a telling photo. Down front at Yankee Stadium, right? You can tell by all the empty seats and the people too busy texting to bother watching the game...

I agree with all that you said about the new release this year. So Beautiful Or So What is a record of adult songs that don't pander to any preconceptions of what the man should be producing. He just does his own thing and gets is right far more often than wrong.

I'm beginning to grow into this commenting business. Those who can do it think nothing of it but it's a big deal putting your opinions out to the world. On another issue - ESPN in Europe have been screening live baseball games for the last 2-3 years. I'm beginning to get it; the technical skill of pitching and the obsession with stats. Watching a whole game can be truly absorbing.

Thanks, dude!

I love that Mark Stewart guy, great player.

Nothing here from Surprise. Not to mention One Trick Pony! Love that album.

But, hey, gift horse and all that. Looking forward to giving a listen tonight.

Holy mMly! This looks great! Just got the new album a few days ago, and I'm still warming up to it. I'm not crazy about "Resume," but I'm liking the rest of it more and more. Thanks for this. Looking forward to giving it a spin...er, play, er, whatever.

Thanks Sal. I'm still totally obsessed with this new album, so this is a joy.
Can't wait for the Beacon.

YES! I haven't seen any boots of Paul shows for several years, so this is a real treat. I am really liking the new album, and my wife and I have a "date" (kids free) to go see him in May which I can't wait for. In fact, I love the surprise of the setlist so much, I am downloading this now but trying hard not to sneak at the setlist to keep it a surprise....

thanks Sal!

Cheers Sal! Looking forward to seeing this tour in London. This will tide me over nicely.

Also, to the above commentator writing about the setlists, he's changing it around every night on this tour.

Cool! I'm going to see him in concert soon too so I'm glad it's an ever-changing palette.... I admit, I bought the iTunes version of the album (usually I'm a physical-media, record-store kinda guy) just for the bonus cut of "Peace Like A River"... which I'd never heard him do live. Yep, I'm a sucker but at least it makes me happy.....

This is great. One of the most under-rated song writers. He needs to do a few more SNL's so people can get familiar with him, again.
