"It's The End Of The World As We Know It, And I Feel Crampy" : THE week-END MIX"

I can't get too worked up over the end of the world THIS time. I thought it was over the minute the rave reviews for "Napoleon Dynamite" started rolling in. When I woke up the next morning, I thought, "Aaah. A new lease on life." Then, BOOM.  The Fleet Foxes.

Still here.

Maybe this time we will all learn a lesson. Maybe this time, it's for real.

If so, I'm going out strong. This mix is for me, as much as it is for you.

It's more than a few of my favorite things.

There are no guilty pleasures here. I am in love with every one of these tunes for one reason or another. If we're alive tomorrow, feel free to ask me why. In the meantime, try to enjoy this mix.

P.S.
Don't be smart alecks and start with Track 2. Give Lemmy some respect, and let Mikkey D blow you away on drums.

Is that "Baby Don't Go" a remake of the Sonny and Cher tune? If so, I am so downloading this immediately....

And I swear to God, my word verification word is:

Sal,
Even though I see a Warrant song on the mix I`ll trust in your good taste. I mean , what have we got to lose, right?

Speaking for myself, I would never skip over Lemmy! Sheryl Crow now I might...but I won't because it's Dwight. Anyway, another great mix. "Wings of a Nightingale" is one of my favorite songs of all time.

May this be the first and last time Rosanne Cash is squeezed between Warrant and UFO.

Now now, Ken. If I could enjoy all three, so can you.

I'll be downloading, but I always listen to your mixes on the way to and from work and my next work
day isn't until Sunday (I'm still pissed that they couldn't schedule the rapture for one of my work days!)

I think it's incredible people are giving these poor, deluded, mentally ill people this massive amount of attention... most especially as we continue to learn that Fukushima is far worse than reported and that massive amounts of radiation are being covered up.

The rock scene has always been horribly immature, but the umpteenth REM reference? This is like cable teevee and TMZ land here.

If we stop giving attention to these sociopaths who make these predictions, they will go away and we can work towards saving our sick and ailing society.

Actually Anon, it's kind of unavoidable. My little mix certainly isn't making matters better or worse, and I don't think I would have gotten away with a "radiation" mix.

Good one. Can never go wrong with some Todd and Roy. See you on the other side.

Unavoidable????

Wow. Speechless. Glad I'm not anywhere near that mindset.

Never let the corporate media hijack you. They love fear and sensationalism and use it to avoid covering the real deal.

My No Nukes mix kicks ass.

Try one some time.

A couple of thoughts on the last couple of Weekend Mixes before we go.

I never get over what beautifully perfect songs "August Day" and "The Verb 'To Love'" are.

Nice discoveries for me....
Bee Gees-The Way It Was
Yoakam & Crow-Baby Don't Go
Closer Still-World Party

I miss Andy Partridge

My throat hurt after listening to Barrence Whitfield. Did he ever sing again after recording "Bad Girl". Loved it.

I'm a little late on this....as usual....but this is a truly inspired mix...literally!...and Anon.:lighten up...you're sounding a lot like me....and I wouldn't wish that on anybody....Aside to Carl: When "Red Ledge" came out, August Day killed me...still does...

This looks great Sal --- I've been down with the count with a stomach virus (my own type of end of the world, it felt at times!) but this mix should be good medicine. Love seeing a Joe Lovano cut in there. Cheers.

No "Rapture" by Blondie??

:)

Thanks for not adding "Caught Up In The Rapture" by Anita Baker...

Glad to see we're all still standing. Looking forward to hearing this mix! Thanks Sal.
