Paul McCartney, born on June 18th.
Brian Wilson, born on June 20th.
Ray Davies, born on June 21st.
Todd Rundgren, born on June 22nd.
I mean, HELL.
It feels like I've been listening to nothing but these four men, in one form or another, for my whole life, and I can't say I'd have it any other way.
I took care of Paul last week, so this "Weekend Mix" focuses on Ray, Brian and Todd. I think you may enjoy it.
It's not your average collection. There are some odd ball choices here, including a few covers, some alternate takes and a live version or two. I want to keep you on your toes.

What a fabulous assortment.... Phobia is, for me, the great lost Kinks album! Nice picks.
Looks great!

Glad you included "Guess I'm Dumb" (great in either the Glen or 'mints versions), one of Brian's best non-Beach Boys songs. Bummer news about Glen this week, though.
Lots of birthdays to celebrate this month, most of all, my wife's!
guess you got off Turntable. I think we were on for another three hours yesterday.
Interesting take on 'I Saw the Light'. Not sure I like it but I'm intrigued enough to try it again later.
The stereo mix of 'Please Let Me Wonder' was fantastic. I blasted the volume and got lost in it.
There isn't a bad version of 'There Goes My Inspiration' which on a songwriting level continues to impress me every time I hear it. Just one of those things.
How can it get any better than adding Daryl and his band to a Todd classic?
"Guess I'm Dumb" is one of those songs I was blissfully unaware of until you turned me on to a version by the Wondermints. I tracked it back to Glen Campbell and is just one of those songs that stand above everything else. I'm glad I never heard it before as it was a breath of fresh air for me. Love, love, love it.
Dwight Yoakam was funny. I picture him doing it on The Dinah Shore Show
I had no idea I shared a birthday with Todd. I guess that makes me special somehow...
Paula Abdul has a birthday on June 19th. Just thought I'd add her in since you had that gap in days. Although that would throw your mix off terribly!
+1 to "There Goes My Inspiration." I've been in love with that song since 1981, and this cover is frickin' gorgeous. But then, that hold true for every track that I listened to so far.
Doubt there's a better Beach Boys acappella choice out there(although "Don't Talk" comes close).
Thanks again, Sal.
Happy to see some love for "There Goes My Inspiration."
Holy moley! Where is this Joe Jackson cover from?
Otis,
It was a bonus track on the Japanese version of "Volume 4." Good one, no?
Good one, YES! Thought I knew all the JJ studio outtakes! Really enjoying the full collection. Thanks, Sal!
I've never heard The Rubinoos before. They sound great on "There Goes My Inspiration". A really great song that I've also never heard. Who wrote it? Do The Rubinoos sound this good on their other stuff?
Thanks, Timmy
