Ladies & Germs, Mr. Punky Meadows

I suspect some of you will jump the Burning Wood ship over this, but hear me out.

In a mere 3:33, this band managed to suck me in, no less than five times.

1.) The incredible drum sound

2.) Those monster power chords

3.) The falsetto harmonies on the chorus

4.) The silly, but infectious synthesizer solo on the bridge.

5.) The riding tambourine on the last chorus.

Yes, I know it's going to be a battle to convince all of you that the androgynous, Breck Boys of heavy metal, Angel, has any worth, but I really love this single.

No convincing here. Angel were a decent band with some nice tunes, and they looked like a rock band, yeah and the hair and a name like Punky. Had the albums way back when, so we knew. Good memory digger Sal.

I have two sins to confess...not only do I really like Angel, I have a particular fondness for their double live album.
Yes,I too was a little fond of chiffon in a wrist array...

Never listened to 'em, but I am indebted to them for inspiring the "Creem" column "Punky Meadows' Lip Farm." - bill buckner

I'm going to have to vote no on this one.
But "jump ship"? No way. One big value of BW is the willingness to try almost everything. If you're willing to play you gotta expect to win some and lose some.

I'll give you the drum sound (awesome) and the hookiness of the chorus.

That said, I am profoundly uncomfortable even thinking about enjoying this.

We'd never leave you Sal, it's just sometimes that we think you are a bit under the weather.

Generally Paul Weller times.

Then again you could have spent the evening communicating electronically with a leader of a reformed power pop band that had a storming debut and a dreadful second album.

I'm not sure if I can remember how english goes now, it's all dude dudes etc etc.

I am deeply ashamed to have really liked the "On Earth as it is in Heaven" album back in '77. I played it again a few years back when I was working a local indie store...what in the hell was I thinking?

I hardly know where to begin.

I congratulate you on keeping your focus on the music, because the video break into Candyland was absolutely unexpected-yet completely apropos-Rock Candy, anyone? Of course, they HAD to be on Casablance. I know my teeth still hurt from that confection.

To be positive, I particularly liked the stretched bass string at around 1:08. It helped to overcome the gratuitous nipple shot of Frank's pose.

Hey, can 11,226 YouTube fans be wrong?
