Feel Like A King

Left to right: Art "Papa Funk" Neville, Zigaboo Modeliste, George Porter Jr. and Leo Nocentelli.

The Meters.

We've heard it before, but it's so worth hearing again...and again. Just be careful. Once you fall into that pocket, it ain't easy getting out.

(And if anybody has that instrumental version, as seen in the pic below, please...get..it... to ME!)

@Sammy

It's a Meters' original, from one of the most essential R&B records ever recorded, "Rejuvenation."

Nice cut. Lately I've been lis'nin' a whole lot to The Meters' "Handclapping Song." Whew! Like someone wrote about them once, love this phrase, The Meters are almost impossibly funky.

I was fortunate enough to see the original lineup reunion at Jazzfest a few years ago, and then again on their very brief reunion tour at HOB in Chicago. These guys are still amazing. Thanks for posting. (P.S. I don't have the instrumental version of this, but if anyone digs it up for you, you HAVE to share with the rest of us!) Thanks.

One more thing: didn't Lowell George play (uncredited) on that song?
