Come down a bit on the reverb and vocals and turn up the bass, guitar and drums a tad higher, and what you have here may be one of the very first power pop songs. I've listened to "Wendy" countless times, but it was always a "fly-over" tune, never a Beach Boys destination for me. Now suddenly, I actually "hear" it and I can't stop. The magic of music.

It sure did get better. I have quite a few versions of Wendy, just vocals, no vocals, mono and stereo. This mix is very good to my ears. Nice call!
I've always loved "Wendy", and think its a shame The Ramones never got around to covering it.
Swoon.
I love the Beach Boys...there, I said it. (...and now I feel better)
can't go wrong with a Beach Boys song. Thanks!
I had more or less the same experience with the Beach Boys. I had always hated them because I associated them with all the born-again girls in my 70s high school who were nuts over the Endless Summer compilation, but one day a decade or so ago I was driving and California Girls came on the radio and bam--it was like I was hearing it for the first time. Suddenly I got it. Been a Beach Boys die-hard ever since. Well, not totally. Can't stand anything past Surf's Up.

BRUUUUCE,
"HOLLAND!"
(And personally, you take 1/3 of "15 Big Ones," 1/3 of "Love You," and a dash of "M.I.U." and "L.A." and you have a Beach Boys album that would rival some of their best work.)
One of the first singles I bought. Can still recall watching the orange and yellow 45 spin. The words meant nothing to me at the time, but I remember thinking that it didn't sound like anything else I had ever heard.
