Smokey Johnson Invades My Soul

I went to sleep with this playing in my head. I woke up the same way. I can't complain. It could have been "The Wreck Of The Edmund Fitzgerald." For that, I am thankful.

In light of your Johnny Ramone posts yesterday, perhaps we could compile a Top Ten list of Smokeys -- in and out of the music world: Ol, Burgess, the Bear, Wood and of course Robinson would probably make my top five.

Ever see NRBQ do their "Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald" encore? This is back in the '80s. They'd go on and on and on until they'd get (mockingly) booed off the stage. Then they'd come back on and with everyone anticipating "Green Lights" or "Shake, Rattle & Roll" they'd launch back into still more verses of The Edmund Fitz...
Very funny (if you were there).
