Burning Wood Radio...Sort Of

Familiar with Turntable.fm?

Check it out.

Turntable.fm is a social media website that allows users to interactively share music. The service allows users to create "rooms," which other users can join. Designated users, so-called "DJs," choose songs to be played to everyone in that room, while all users are able to talk with one other through a text interface.

I've created the Burning Wood room. It was my friend Jeff K's idea and it really is a great one.

It's easy enough to show up. Just use your Facebook account. If you don't have one, you can join another way.

I will be "spinning" some of my faves and yours, this Wednesday, 7-8 P.M., E.S.T.  This should give you a couple of days to familiarize yourself with how it works and think about what music you're bringing to the party. Or, you can just show up and enjoy the music.

I'll post another reminder or two in the chat box.

Hope to see you there.

I futzed around with Turntable a few months back...i thought it was a pretty cool web app, but since i didn't know any of the other folks, I haven't had a reason to go back. Now I do, I'll certainly check this out, great idea.

Well, this made me finally succumb to getting a Facebook account... I just hope I don't start getting messages from annoying people from high school.

Sounds like fun! I think I will be at work tho. Full participation in the near future. I could bring a 32minute Dark Star, give everyone a chance to get acquainted, maybe get dinner and then head back . . .

I hope I'm not still laughing come Wedneadsy evening.

one turntable and a microphone . . . Listen: I sent you a link to some commonly used abbreviations that have been making the rounds on the Internet. I think “I hope I am not still laughing on Wednesday” is among them . . . WGPYTFADST! (Will gladly pay you Tuesday for a Dark Star today!)

Oh well, looks like The Conductor has saved me a trip. Not the first time we ill-favoured band of snaggle-toothed savages across the big water have been shafted by high-toned law makers and their 'licensing constraints'. I shall simply content myself with a BW mixtape or three and my badly-drawn, life-sized cardboard cuttouts of Sal, buzzbabyjesus and FD13NYC for company.

I'm not sulking. I'm not, I'm not, I'm not.

Like The Conductor and Rob, I, too, will be unable to actively participate.

When will these companies understand that when you putt www. in front of your name, it means "WorldWideWeb"?

I'm used to it, thanks to Hula.

Lycka till, Sal.

This sounds very interesting, I'd like to be a part of it. But I'm not on Twitter or Facebook and don't wish to be. Is there a way to join without all that? Any suggestions?

Sounds cool. And it's not like I have anything important to do of an evening, at least at my age.

How'd it go? I couldn't make Wednesday but found turntable.fm fascinating. Still, there were next to no rooms featuring OUR kind of music (what's dubstep??) It would be nice if BW had a room every Wednesday or whenever.
