"Hard Rock/Heavy Metal" : THE WEEKEND MIX

This mix should have been posted over on Burning Love?, but there seems to be an issue with the site that hosts the music, so until that has corrected itself...

I'm guessing that some of you may not bother to listen to this collection of tunes. I know some of you will be chomping at the bit to sling some snark my way at the inclusion of a few of these tunes. Then of course, there will be a good lot of you who might just dig it.

As always, I find everything here worthy. Nothing is a guilty pleasure and I listen with no irony.

TumblingDice1970 commented: "Tesla:Underrated band who could actually play." I agree, and silly title aside, "Don't De-Rock Me" is full of kick-ass playing. Most of these songs are.

Hard rock or heavy metal? I don't care. This is exciting stuff.

Clear your heads and dive in fresh.

I'm getting this and giving it a play even though I expect to hate about a third of the tunes. Judas Priest, and Warrant anyway. On the other hand, "Riff Raff", thanks to one of your previous mixes, has become a favorite.

Some excellent cuts, some not so for me. Glad to see the inclusion of the oft-ignored Mountain and one of their best cuts. My teeth don't hurt so much.

Thanks Sal -- I'll give it a listen.

Not sure why metal was not a bit part of my listening experience but ...

I did see Ted Nugent in concert one time and my ears did the Wango Tango for a week after!

Great mix. Mostly all favorites. Wait Till Saturday, that's funny, my wake up everyone at two in the morning song. Mountain, Montrose, and the Aerosmith tune, very good. Not a too much heavy metal song in the bunch. I hope Carl's teeth are OK.

Will be playing this and having a rockin' weekend. I hope you do too.

Given what a massive douchebag Dave Mustaine has revealed himself to be in the last couple of weeks, I'll probably pass on the Megadeth song.

Otherwise -- looks like a killer set.

never knew Dio to have that much hair!

Thanks to Simels I know Mustaine is a douchebag. Add that to "Some Kind Of Monster", and why give any of those guys the time of day?

Really Buzz? Two douchebags and an entire genre is for shit? I'm pretty sure John Lennon may have beat his wife once.

I was talking about Megadeath and Metallica. Not the whole genre.
By the end of "some Kind Of Monster" I'd had enough of those guys. "Where's my little danish friend?"

Never In My Life is a personal favorite Mountain track, thanks. Many of these are not familiar to me, so thanks, too, for some schoolin' in metal.
UFO did some very cool records. Their version of Alone Again Or is nice. (Is it ok to use the adjective "nice" in a metal context?)

Great mix I just listened to the whole thing. Thanks!

Great mix Sal.

I'd have chose the odd different song, UFO maybe Only You Can Rock Me.

Lizzy, I dunno but I've always felt short though it is, Don't Believe A word defined everything they were about in just over two minutes.

Rainbow, obvious, but for me it'd be Stargazer, those lyrics say everything you want to know about Hard Rock.

Interestingly enough, with the exception of Megadeth and maybe AC/DC, I'd not define any of these as Heavy Metal, Hard Rock certainly.

So I get back from two week's vacation to find a hard rock posting on the blog? That's more like it! My genre of choice has always been rock, hard, heavy, metal, call it what you will. It'll put hairs on your chest as my ex-wife would say (and she was living proof of that!). Thanks for the fine selection. It's only rock 'n' roll but I ilke it.
