I Love This, Yeah Yeah Yeah

I don't know about you, but I love The Beatles. And one of the great pleasures in my life is when I stumble onto something new.  I think, "What's left? I've heard every note, officially released and bootlegged. I've seen every picture. That must be it."  Then, friends like Steve Schwartz or Power Pop's own Steve Simels, will hip me to something I've never seen or heard, and I find myself in Beatle Heaven once again.

Maybe you've seen this. I hadn't, and this time, I have Geno Oberto to thank.

The Beatles, live and raw on Swedish television. They kill, even with the occasional clam.

Wow.....that's them alright!....great little set....2 things: Paul making love to the camera every chance he gets and Ringo just kicking ass on the skins....by the way, is that Gene doing the intro?....wait a minute, he wasn't Swedish yet...my bad!!.....great find....

You're not alone. I love the music of The Beatles. Have been a Fab Four fan since senior year in high school and that was 4 years ago. I'm one of the few people in their 20s that listens to The Beatles very avidly.

My 13 year old daughter likes the Beatles. Her favorite song right now is "I'm So Tired".
The Beatles were a great live band, and Ringo totally drove it.
I just imagined what might have happened if they'd played Monterey, augmented by strings, horns, and a Mellotron.
here's a fantasy set I just threw together:
Sgt Pepper
With A Little Help From My Friends
Lucy In The Sky
Getting Better
Money
Taxman
Rain
Dizzie Miss Lizzie
Got To Get You Into My Life
A Day In The Life
It's All Too Much
Sgt Pepper

This is a really good early Live performance. I have this on a DVD somewhere. It's nice to hear them with hardly any screaming girls to drown them out. The Swedes were sedate and polite. They're all in fine form, tight, especially John and Paul's vocals. They had to be, given that they worked very hard gigging 3-4 years prior to becoming the phenom they turned into.

Great stuff! Wonder whatever happened to Boris, Doris, and Klas Burling?

John Lennon singing "Twist and Shout" is one of the greatest R&R vocals ever.
