Nick Curran, R.I.P.

Nick Curran has lost his battle with cancer.

I'm not one for the obituary, and I'm pretty sure this won't be some deathbed bandwagon.

Too bad.

Nick kicked ass all the time. Almost.

Listen to his music. You won't be sorry.

Here's a link to something I wrote about "Reform School Girls," a record that continues to blow me away.

That is a damn shame. Thirty-five years old.

The only album of his I have is Doctor Velvet. Maybe I'll go get Reform School Girl right now.

I bought Reform School Girls after the Burning Wood post. Great record ... great talent ... great loss.

My experience echoes JAYESSMM's... a terrific album that I discovered here. Simply tragic. That's way too young.

I just listened to "Reform School Girls" on HuffPost, and it's The New York Dolls meets Eddy and The Falcons. In a good way. I'm sorry I never heard of him.

Nick Curry's music doesn't hit me quite the same way it hits you, but I'm sorry to see him pass.

By the way, I didn't know you were also a frequent paid writer for publications and labels, but 'tis not surprising...
