Long Live Rock

If this performance by The Who isn't one of the most emotional live moments in rock and roll history, then I'm Clu Gulager.

Speaking of The Who, when you've recovered from watching this mini-set of music, take a peek over at Burning Love? for a little discussion about irreplaceable band members.

Wow...not bad for some guys who were fairly old geezers way back then in 2001!

Couldn't agree more.

And a great story from at the time -- one of the kids from N Sync, don't remember which one, was at the show and a reporter asked him what he thought about the Who's performance.

He said, and I'm paraphrasing but just barely "I'm too young to have ever seen these guys back in the day. So I had no idea just how great they are. Seriously -- I'm blown away."

The kid wasn't a dope, is what I'm saying.

Reading Pete's book now, and caught a nice doc about the making of Quadrophenia (the album!) last night. So this is timely.

I guess Zak Starkey is probably the best Keith Moon style drummer working today. I wonder where he learned to play like that?

Dude - this set moves me to tears everytime I see it. You can literally see the Who come back to life in the first song and give back some of what the audience is sending them. Amazing ...

Good call!
