WARNING: Jam Band Ahead
If a 15 minute version of "Dreams" isn't your cup of tea, then I won't try to sell you on it. But, I wouldn't be posting a 2013 performance of the Allman Brothers if I didn't feel it was worth your time.
This is from the last night of the Beacon Theatre run and it is really something else. Warren Haynes delivers a fine solo, though not really anything he hasn't done before. Derek Trucks on the other hand, turns in something special.
But the real reason I am posting this video is what happens in between. I've talked about Maurice Brown many times on these pages. I first met Maurice in 2004 at a place called the Funky Butt in New Orleans. We became friends and for the last 9 years, I've seen Mr. Brown play his trumpet with his own jazz quintet, a larger funk unit he called Soul'd U Out, with jazz legends Louis Hayes & Curtis Fuller, Wynton Marsalis, and most recently as a very key member of the Tedeschi Trucks Band. For 9 years, Maurice Brown has taken every performance to a higher place. And here with the Allmans, he does it again.

You sure called it right Brother Sal! It rare for a 14 minute video to hold me all the way through, this surely did. The sound is great and the video shooter did an excellent job. Great posting.

I want to be more high-falutin in my comments here, but HELL YES is all I can muster. Watched the whole thing and loved it. These guys are part of why I'm proud to be a Georgian.
Have made many pilgrimages to Macon to see Rose Hill, eat at H&H, and visit The Big House.
Been trying to figure a way into listening to more Derek Trucks. I think I have been missing something. Now I am sure I have been. Thanks.
I gotta think this sound came right from the board.
I think the story is, the videotaper LazyLightning (?) sync'd his video with the Allmans boards they sell on the site.
@Ken, check out the recent Tedeschi-Trucks live set. No better way to hear what he's capable of, in my judgement. Plus, Susan Tedeschi. Nuff said.

Derek Trucks is one thing to hear, is quite another to see! As a fledging guitarist I watched him up close at Garden State Art Center and I was amazed at his right hand technique. Thanks for posting . . .
