Abbey WHOA!

I didn't think it was possible to hear something new from The Beatles at this stage of the game. With countless bootlegs offering up everything from monitor mixes to fanmade mash-ups, a real treasure comes along less often than it used to.

Now if this has been floating about for years, it certainly didn't make it to my ears. I realize the Abbey Road medley isn't "new," but I promise you, you will hear things you have never heard before.

A moment for me? The background vocals in "Polythene Pam." These guys? The Beatles?

They were THAT good.

The more time passes, the better they get. No one comes close.

great stuff, any details on what it is exactly. Is it just an isolation of the vocal tracks. pretty unbelievable stuff

No details. Listening to it now for the 4th time, it really sounds like all the backing vocals and harmonies are just John & Paul. Can't make out George's voice at all.

But you can really hear Ringo on "Carry That Weight."

IMO, the Beatles' Rockband game was the best thing to happen to Beatles fans in the last decade, as it appears to be the hacked source of more interesting remixes and outtakes than anything else remaining in the Apple vaults. I'm guessing that's where this came from as well.

Oh, take away the beautiful harmonies between Paul and John, and their terrific songwriting collaborations, and they were just another band. I kid of course.
They were so special. It's probably best that they split up when they did. The other bands from that era who continue to perform simply tarnish their reputation, for the most part.
I often wonder, what would have they have been like without the drug use? Better or worse? It seems that John ceded much of his authority to Paul, starting with Sgt.Pepper, and was bored with the band, probably owing to the heroin addiction. In most of the pictures shown in the video, Ringo appeared to be the only one truly enjoying himself.

Thanks, Sal! And, yes, i never noticed those amazing backups on Polythene Pam. It sounds like heaven played through a Wurlitzer. The backups on "She Came In.." are also pretty amazing, though hearing it this way I wish John had sung the low harmony on the chorus ("didn't anybody tell her...") rather than Paul duetting with himself. Add a little grit and bluesiness. As is- magnificent. - Alexi
