World Boogie, Baby!

"I spent all morning writing today's post and Blogger ate it."

-Steve Simels

"Yep!"

-Sal Nunziato

Please watch the EPK posted above. It explains part of what I was writing about before Blogger sucked it and my soul into its heartless space of cyber. I went on to say something about how I've been listening to the North Mississippi All-Stars since their 2000 debut and for all this time, I've liked but never loved what the sons of legendary producer and Memphis madman Jim Dickinson laid down on record. I love what they're about, but they just never nailed it, though 2005's "Electric Blue Watermelon" almost did.

But now there is "World Boogie Is Coming." This is it! Luther & Cody Dickinson nailed it in a big way.

Released in September, this is proof of just how exciting music can be.

If you think you don't need to hear another version of "Rollin' & Tumblin'" or another groove on "Casino Boogie," think again. Listen to this loud and you will get lost. One song is more creative than the next. The love for southern country blues and funk oozes from the grooves.

(First draft was much better, damn it!)

You nailed it anyway. This new one is the shit. Best blues rock album since "Rio Grande Mud".

"Turn it up to ten and throw down some nasty rock and roll"

I love that line!

Looking forward to checking that out.

I've liked some of their earlier records, and I enjoyed them when I saw 'em live, but I was never a convert like some people.

This, however, sounds interesting. Thanks for the heads up.

As funky as red-eye gravy and as thick as molasses.

Good gracious, what a surprise. It's on repeat on the iPhone.

Much obliged.

I'm not convinced that World Boogie reaches much beyond their earlier inconsistent releases - I find myself unable to listen straight through any of their albums including this one without getting bored by the sameness of sound. I've always cut them slack for their pedigree but mostly enjoy them when they pop up on Shuffle.

TASTY! I wouldn't have given this a second look without your plug. But I did, and I love it. Thanks, Sal.

Sal, thank you, thank you, thank you! I had never heard of these guys, but since I trust your judgment, I went ahead and downloaded it. This record is awesome! It had me bouncing around my chair while listening at 8 am this morning! Terrific music!
