"Deepish Cuts": THE WEEKEND MIX

I wanted to compile a selection of songs that best represented our discussion earlier this week about artists and their material before hitting the big time. I admit, this didn't go too well, mostly because I am in over my head preparing for this weekend's WFMU Record Fair, which I hope some of you can attend. I just haven't had the time to think.

What I did put together was a dozen of my favorite deep-ish tracks from people we all know and love. I don't imagine any fan of any of these artists would be hearing these tunes for the first time, but hey...ya never know.

I think it's a good listen, in any event.

TRACKLIST

Say Goodbye- Cheap Trick
Beaten To The Punch-Elvis Costello & The Attractions
You Might Recall- Genesis
Your Own Worst Enemy- Bruce Springsteen
Perfection- Badfinger
Influenza-Todd Rundgren
Long Away-Queen
Follow Your Bliss- The B'52s
A Certain Softness- Paul McCartney
Backsliding Fearlessly- Mott The Hoople
Waterfall-ELO
Just Once In My Life-The Beach Boys

Many thanks for the deep dish mix which includes some personal faves (Trick, Mott, Badfinger, Genesis) so I'm looking forward to giving it a spin later. Would like to attend the record show but can't because of that thing between us - what's it called? - oh yeah, the Atlantic Ocean. Hope you have a good one & a good weekend too. Cheers!

Nice! Looks like a great mix, Sal. Wish I could go to that record show, too... I live in the ATL.
