Fave Guitar Solos: Part One

We had been talking about Prince's solo in "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" long before his passing, with good reason. But it's this track from his second record that takes the cake for me. It's the perfect combo of soul and flash.

Prince was great at so many things. He breathed music. But his guitar was stellar. Truly. And he could be so stingy with it! Often he would just tease with it, but when he went off.....DAMN!! A common story is when Clapton was asked how it felt to be the guitar master he said "I don't know. Why don't you ask Prince?" And to prove the point, how old was Prince when he recorded "Why You Wanna Treat Me So Bad"??? Because he was so eccentric & peculiar his guitar playing took a back seat for the populists. Much of his 90's work which was pretty much ignored contains some incredible guitar work. And there was also the Super Bowl event. Damn! I love that guy.....

saw another thread right after the passing claims the clapton thing is urban legend and debunked on Scopes

The solo reminded me of Bill Nelson, and then I realized it wasn't all that different from "Flaming Desire" from 1981.

"Urban legend" or not it's still true.
