Did The Stones really have to do "Come Together?"

Thanks for posting these Sal. I think most impressive is that Roger(D) can still hit that last "Yeah"

"Animals" was the beginning of the end of the Pink Floyd I liked, and one of my least favorite albums. I was very disappointed after "Wish You Were Here".
The 30 seconds I watched sounded a little better than I remember.

The Stones finally put to rest which was the better band.

I got through most of Paul and Neil. It was a near perfect pairing. "Why Don't We Do It In The Road" is exactly the same kind of throwaway tune Neil graces us with from time to time. "T-Bone", from "Reactor", for instance. Or all of "Psychedelic Pill". At least there seemed to be some spontaneity and fun involved.

I already forgot what the forth clip was. Oh yes the 'OO, playing a song I've heard about 50 times too many. I guess you had to be there.

That said, thanks for sharing. It was a fascinating glimpse of something really sad at it's core.

I'm surprised you don't love "Animals." Lyrically intense. Odd, at the right times. Commercial enough for FM radio. And some of Gilmour's best guitar playing.

The Stones make me sad. They sound terrible. They've sounded terrible for years.

I just can't feel that way about The Who. They sound great. They are still full of energy.

I reckon I'll give "Animals" another spin someday.

The Who sound fine in the clip, but................

Floyd still sounds great. Though, personally, I would have done without the dancing percussionists.

Maybe it was me, but Paul looked uncomfortable with Neil Young.

The Who knocked it out of the park like they always do. But, the bottle of pedialyte behind Townshend was funny.

I had to stop watching The Stones. I am at work and it's not cool to fall asleep at your desk.

Thanks Sal.

Not to hijack this thread, but I saw Ian Hunter and the Rant Band last night in a very small club in Ann Arbor, MI.

Show was awesome. Lead guitarist was good and not wanking away. Great cover of Sweet Jane. If I'm that active at 77 (!!!), I'll be lucky!

Shriner,
Saw Ian Hunter on Friday. Couldn't agree more! He is peaking at 77! And the lead guitarist, Mark Bosch, is the Rant Band's secret weapon. He was channeling Mick Ronson. Really something else.

I second (or third or fourth) the Who as a live act. Saw them in March in Newark and they put on quite a show--lots of energy, as noted, and a murderer's row of songs. I think Zack Starkey has a lot to do with keeping them fired up.

Also slightly off topic, but still in the old guys vein: Saw Richard Thompson on Saturday night, and it was another outstanding show. The fact that he can just causally throw in 1952 Vincent Black Lightning mid-set is amazing. Plus, he granted someone's request of Oops I Did It Again, which is always a hoot. Highly recommended!
