Highlighting Cheap Trick's "The Latest"

It's been a while since I gave Cheap Trick's 2009 release a spin. I remember thinking at the time that "The Latest" felt like one of their best. I would play a few tracks here and there, the faves from the record like "Everybody Knows" and "Closer," but yesterday, having tracked down a very rare vinyl copy of the record, I decided to give the whole thing a go. Loved it so much, I played it twice, giving Side Two a third spin, a few hours later.  It's been eight years since its release, still in 2009, it could have been considered a late career masterpiece. I still feel that way.

I agree. Liked it much more than their most recent album. Had that feel that their best stuff had in their hey day. Any chance of that vinyl showing up on AM/PM? ;-)

This sounds fantastic. I love the density of the music, crunch plus production. Totally surprised, I expected to hear the usual cheap trick but this may save the year, even if it came out 7 years ago. It's new to me!

Yes.
I've said this before, but their first is one of my all time favorite albums.
I liked each one a little less after that. The newest one I've heard, or have, is
"All Shook Up"(1980), produced by Sir George.
"Baby Loves To Rock" is the only song I like on it.
"Everybody Knows" is what that pairing should have sounded like.
