The Rayhawks

Brand spanking new from Sir Ray Davies, backed by The Jayhawks, this is "Poetry" from the forthcoming release "Americana," a companion of sorts to Davies memoir of the same name, which is essential reading, by the way. I don't know if The Jayhawks appear on the entire record, but after listening to "Poetry," I'd be very okay with that.

I'm a 21st century man but I don't want to be here.

Sounds promising. It's fun hearing Ray's voice singing something new.

At first I thought he was doing a Lou Reed impression, and then I was reminded of Steve Harley.

I look forward to hearing the whole thing.

Yes, please....always a treat to hear Sir Ray....and a nod to Buzz in that I hear a little Make Me Smile in there too. I want more!

I like the song very much. Listened to it twice so far. Happy to see the Jayhawks so active - - they are also backing Wesley Stace aka John Wesley Harding and continuing to tour behind Paging Mr Proust.

And now I feel a Kinks-inspired listening binge coming on...

Liked the Jayhawks since "Hollywood Town Hall" and "Waitng For the Sun" enlivened my listening habits. As for Sir Raymond of Muswell Hill, enough said, so it's a nice combo. Thanks for the chance to hear "Poetry". Looking forward to hearing more. Cheers!

Thanks for posting this, sort of what dogreath said...I second that. I've heard two new things I love on this Friday morning. Light in the darkness, music is. Thanks!
