We're Having A ...

Having nothing at all to do with the 60 degree January weather here in NYC, I swear, here is the U.K.'s Pama International and their new cover of the Motown monster, "Heat Wave."

As my friend put it, "I think it's pretty good for a ubiquitous 60's song." I agree. I think it's pretty great, actually. Now I must look into what else Pama International have done.

I almost didn't listen, as I've heard "Heatwave" enough times already, so it was a nice surprise to hear a classic reggae interpretation. I've almost always a sucker for these.

I think it's pretty great as well. I once heard a steel drum band do a cover of Whiter Shade of Pale that was so refreshingly terrific, but I don't know who it was, nor have I been able to find it ever since.

Well that was delightful.

Rick, your post reminded me of the time I heard a steel drum player do a slow, mournful take on Tie A Yellow Ribbon in the W 4th St subway station during the start of the first Gulf War. It's stuck with me all these years later.

Nice! Then again, it's my considered opinion that most songs will fresh when performed with a reggae beat.

Oops! I forgot *sound*

"...sound fresh when..."
