Not The Girl You Think You Are- Crowded House
With a new Neil Finn record on the horizon, I felt like hearing some old Neil Finn. Always loved this track which to my ears, has a very Nilsson vibe.

Afraid Himself To Be- Jason Falkner
There just isn't enough new Jason Falkner music out there, so I need to keep playing the same amazing older tracks over and over again.

Young Man's Fancy- Amazing Blondel
Amazing Blondel started off as one band and ended up as another. This middle period record is the one I love most. The whole of "Blondel" is truly wonderful and this track popped up on the iPod last week.

I Can't Stop- The Turtles
An underrated band for sure, with more than depth than just a dozen familiar hit singles. This is from "Wooden Head," which is a collection of oddities that plays like one pretty coherent and pretty terrific album.

My Girl The Month Of May- Dion & The Belmonts
This gorgeous track is from their 1966 reunion album. It also popped up on the iPod, as did the following tune right after it. I thought the segue into...

Ooh Child- The Posies
...was just perfect. Actually, The Posies version of "Ooh Child" might be my favorite cover version.

I Can't Tell What Truth Is Anymore- Andy Partridge
I was listening to BBJ's Sir John John's mix and had forgotten how good some of those Andy demos were, like this one.

Looks like a perfect pop mix to me - thanks for this, Sal! (and the "liner notes")

Sir John John was one of my better ones. As close to Andy solo as we're likely to get.

Nice one! Can never hear too much of the craftsmanship of Crowded House and I've loved The Turtles since I first caught them schlepping around with Zappa's Mothers of Invention (hope I used "schlepping" in the correct context there). An ace SOTW zip. Cheers!

Great pop selections and I'm certainly on board with your Posies comment.

Mr Dogbreath,

Schlepping in this case is acceptable.

Well this is wonderful.

And in completely unrelated news I'm finally listening to "Kicking Child", the lost Dion album. It's GREAT! You mentioned it a while ago and I've been meaning to listen for some time.

Really, really good stuff!

great playlist. wide and deep, as usual.
