Yep, totally shocked. Every Time I saw him play, he blew me away. One of the greatest musicians. His music takes up a lot of shelf space. There's no better compliment. RIP

Aw hell. One of my all time musical heroes.

This sucks!

His work with The Yardbirds is some of the most magical guitar I ever heard. The rest of his career was pretty cool also.

Hard to fathom. A real blow (by blow). Such a genius musician. Saw him countless times and each time it felt like an event. Man, so inventive. What a guy. And what a car collection!

And of course you choose a pic of him wearing a New Orleans shirt....

C In California,
No! I didn't. Didn't notice until you said it. I simply reposted Jimmy Page's post.
But I'll take it.

The best iteration I saw of the Beck band was Tal Wlkenfield on bass and Vinnie Colaiuta on drums. Just amazing... and abviously having a lot of fun and revelling in each others company.

and better live than on record. Happy to be corrected here!

Was there anything he couldn't do?

(just couldn't live forever, I suppose...)

Odd thing is that he didn't play NO often, and I don't recall him ever at The Warehouse (could easily be wrong on this). Do recall him appearing at an outdoor festival in NO (City Park stadium) when he was touring in support of Blow by Blow. Such a loss.

No one could make his guitar sing with emotion like he could. Just listen to his version of "Nessun Dorma" to understand everything about what made him the greatest.

I'm shocked and saddened by his passing.
My Trinity is Beck, Page and Hendrix.

@Rick,
First, I can't even type the words "Nessun Dorma" without crying.
Second, Beck's version is otherworldly.
Finally, this version from Crossroads, NOW, is just too much.
