I used to browse for records at Korvettes when my parents would shop there. I guess (at the time), I had no idea it was a chain store.

It's funny how John just did this spontaneously from a script without pay, thus providing immeasurable publicity for the store (who undoubtedly paid a standard ad rate to the station for the spot.) I can imagine how many celebrities who would negotiate an outrageous fee for something similar.

That's wild, I've never heard that before. I bought a ton of records at my local EJ Korvettes back in the day. Whoever the buyer was did an amazing job, they had everything. They were great for imports, and I'd stock up on the indy labels and British-only labels when they had their "All Label" sales. I could buy the British punk & new wave records several months before their US release. I don't remember buying anything else there, maybe a pair of jeans. They weren't as memorable as the records.

I always loved it when Korvettes would have their “all label” sales.

Korvettes record department was better than some record stores. The all label sale was always advertised in the Daily News. Such great memories, but I still have records from both Korvettes and Sam Goody with the back corner sliced ahd the price written in ball point. What a stupid policy!

Great ad! Never heard it before, or don’t remember it . I also remember their all label sales. For $10 you could get three albums @$2.99, and a 45 for about.79 cents! No sales tax then. They usually had a great selection. I still have some that I got from there.
