We've got Mingus to wake you up.

Art Freeman and Hoagy Lands are here with two more original versions of songs covered by The Detroit Cobras on their "Baby" album. I wanted to recreate the entire album, but finding all of the songs was becoming a chore.

"Weakness" is a late career classic from Todd Rundgren. He's performing this live again on the current tour and it was a highlight.

"Good Day" is one of many underrated tracks on The Kinks' "Word Of Mouth." I want to thank /R for tallying up the stats of everyone's choices last week.

I hadn't listened to Steve Winwood's debut in a very long time and I was surprised by how much I enjoyed it and "Vacant Chair."

From the NIN game-changing debut, here's my favorite track which closes things out both there and here.

I think it's a bootleg comp - I've got a digital collection called The Songs We Taught The Detroit Cobras that did a lot of the gathering of those old classic songs. Terrific!!!

I've always thought that Todd's Arena never got the props it was due.

I just happened to listen to Winwood's debut a couple of weeks ago - I've always been partial to Midland Maniac and Luck's In, but they're all pretty darn good.

Thanks for the mix!

Have loved those bookends passionately for years. Good choice from NIN debut. Opening lines have always reminded me of Michael Hutchence. A good bunch all around, though I'm not as enthusiastic as you are about the Kinks number. Art Freeman thing is flawed but I dig it warts and all. Spooner on keys, right? Yeah, that Winwood album kinda came and went without much airplay. While "Vacant Chair" isn't my favorite of the record, it definitely points the way to follow-up's "Arc of a Diver," another Stanshall collaboration. I really liked the stuff Winwood did with Remi Kabaka. Used to dance to it.
