Chris Bailey passed back in April of 2022, but I just read the news yesterday that a final Saints album, "Long March Through The Jazz Age," was recorded and will be released in November. Here is the first single, which is a long march from 1977's "I'm Stranded." I'm looking forward to this one.

Haven't even heard it (yet), but I too am looking forward to it. All Fools Day is one of my favorite albums of all time, but the stuff before and after that was hit and miss. But, man, the hits were out of the park, so I very much want to like this one. Even if all they ever did was (I'm) Stranded, they'd be greats.

They are channeling Dylan and the Byrds with a very good result for the single. Hopefully, the whole set is strong.

Great track - woefully underrated band. Great cover of the day as well. Thanks so much.

Oh Yea this sounds good and promising. The Saints 2nd album Eternally Yours is a killer. Know Your Product just leaps out of the speaker.
This is, at least, the third posthumous tune released. The other two, that I know about, are "Break Away," and "Empires (Sometimes We Fall)." Every one of them are pretty good.
Yeah, All Fools Day rules. I like a great deal of their albums post the dissolution of the original band. However, you have to get your weed whacker out. But even the weeds aren't total crap. Bailey tried a lot of different things and never fell completely flat on his face in his attempts.
The Saints never gigged in SoCal as far as I know. I was fortunate enough to see them on three different Australia trips. The last Saints show I saw was around a decade ago. Always enjoyed them live.

Radio Birdman Radio Birdman Radio Birdman funnest shows I ever attended. The energy exchange between band and audience was off the fuckin' charts. Yeah Hup!
Oh I forgot to mention the terrific cover by Fountains of Wayne of the Roccy Frame song.
The Thin Lizzy album is underrated. Sykes was a gorgeous guitar god and he knew it. He took it right to the edge of wanker but got away with it by the sheer power of his contribution. The title track testifies to that. I would have fucked that shit in a second
Never plan to have a Mississippi Honeymoon but the track developed nicely after my initial skepticism. I mean, at first I thought I was watching Russ Tamblyn painting shovels gold.

Excuse the typo on Mr. Aztec Camera above. My left middle finger snorted a little too much coffee for its own good last night/this morning.
And I forgot to thank Sal for his devotion to making this blog a stimulating experience .... which none of us should take for granted. His love of music is all encompassing and palpable. His heart is genuinely in it. And I love him for it. My deepest appreciation. You are one of a kind.

Nick Cave turned me onto the Saints! Looking forward to this.
I well recall jigging around to "I'm Stranded" but "Judas" sounds v interesting in its alt countryish way. Cheers for posting it up.
Thanks for that, VR.
You mean you actually read this shit?
Noticed you put up Todd's Initiation. I always thought of it as a 2-LP set. One album full of winners with a free bonus disc of Todd's Noodle-roni. Side One rocks 4 out 5 stars. Side Two lost me at the word "treatise." Drugs couldn't ignite the cosmic fire either. Lord knows I tried.
