Soothe Me- Charles Brown
Maria - Eric Reed
Tell Me Why- The Mavericks
Break Up- Del Shannon
Chinese Cafe- Joni Mitchell
Breakin' In My Heart- Tom Verlaine
3rd Generation Nation- Dead Boys
Soothe Me- Charles Brown
(Charles Brown's voice could swallow you whole in the very best ways.)
Maria - Eric Reed
(I saw Eric Reed's trio that included Reginald Veal on bass and Gregory Hutchinson on drums, perform this classic at the Museum Of Natural History back in the late 90's and it knocked me out. You might dig this version, too.)
Tell Me Why- The Mavericks
(The great Raul Malo left us this week, far too soon. This is from my fave Mavs record "Trampoline.")
Break Up- Del Shannon
(Great record making right here! I highly recommend giving the Norton Records comp, "Move It On Over" a spin if you like this track.)
Chinese Cafe- Joni Mitchell
(Went on a mini Joni binge last week. Rediscovered the greatness of "Turbulent Indigo" and the awfully dated production of "Chalk Mark In A Rain Storm." Also, remembered how gorgeous this track is.)
Breakin' In My Heart- Tom Verlaine
(I always say it, if Tom Verlaine's solo debut was Television's follow-up to "Marquee Moon" instead of the anemic "Adventure," we'd be having different conversations today.)
3rd Generation Nation- Dead Boys
(Going out big and loud, so turn it up!)
AND THIS...
So it seems I am the only loser who can't download my own files. It's fine. I don't need to as long as you can. You will see two zip links. The lower case is the old way. The upper case is the new way. The new way will only be available until 12/17, 8:AM.
Let's see how this plays out.
Enjoy, I hope.

I would have been here sooner, but I had to watch Letterman on Jimmy Kimmel from this past week... I sure do miss Dave.
Man, that Charles Brown track sure is smooth... and great.
I have that Eric Reed track in my jazz folder, so I"m sure I got turned onto him by you awhile back.
The Joni track has always been one of my faves of hers.
I always say it, I'm a much bigger Verlaine solo fan than Television.
Really dug the Pengwins track yesterday, thanks for everything!
Randy
Thanks a lot for this Sal - always bringing us the good stuff, even when the universe isn't being friendly!!
The top (old way) link worked charmingly for me, I'm glad to report. Looking forward to making this a Monday listen as I do each week.
