I suspect that young man may have a bright future in the filed of popular music. 😎

"Field". Not "filed." 😎

ICE will want his files.

That's the second protest/topical song I've heard about the shooting in the last 12 hours. I think finally the people might be rising up. If an event is song/written about it is surely on a lot of peoples' minds.

I always thought The Clash wrote Revolution Rock. It just sounded like them. Great original.

There's a need to make songs like this go viral somehow.

Johnny Cougar and Dave Edmunds had a baby, and he sings a righteous song. Maybe Allan Rosenberg (previous comment) is right, and this will be a George Floyd moment, albeit not with the immediate and grand scale, since folks aren't just leery of cops, but of the whole government under TrumpleThinSkin.

Great song! Despicable behavior from Trump, Vance, and the rest, but I'm not surprised to see it. I'm slightly optimistic that people will finally understand what's going on with these thugs.
On the lighter side- here's a great video:

There’s something about this guy I don’t dig or trust. He’s been touted as this new Dylan. Puh-leeze. He’s a folky Mark Russell at best.

What's not to trust about this particular clip?

I've seen other of his vids, so, yes, he's gotten attention. But I don't get dismissing someone because OTHERS hang a name on them, and you're not seeing it. John Prine, Springsteen, Donovan....none of those guys were "the new Dylan", but it didn't stop me from enjoying them in their own right. Is a folky Mark Russell something you'd not dig or trust?

Here's an interesting take on this Jesse Welles mania. https://currincy.substack.com/p/i-protest-his-protest-song-or-why

A friend sent me this clip via Instagram. Prior to that, I had no idea who Welles was, did not see him on Colbert, was unaware that he had "written" other protest "songs" or started in a "bro-grunge band." And he is definitely not the first nor the last artist to cry about Spotfiy and still have his music on the platform.

I saw this clip and it hit home. That it isn't "Hattie Carroll" made no difference to me. Let's face it, anyone using the term "the new Dylan" on anybody since 1966 is just being silly. Even if Welles songs are just barely songs where he is basically reading the news over two chords, if it's another way to express the horrors that have become part of our daily lives and it reaches a few more people, I don't see the harm and I certainly don't think he is making it worse.
