Classy, as always. I usually think of John Hammond as being key to Bruce getting signed by Columbia.

I was not, shall we say, a fan of the guy when he was in his heyday, but he DID sign Willie Nile, so I'm not gonna speak ill of the dead. 😎

For the record, I don't have any feelings toward Clive Davis one way or another. I liked Bruce's speech mostly because of how he ended it, with the roster of "suits," "record men." I wrote about this in a NYT Op-Ed back in 2014, and I still feel as strong as ever about what I wrote. I miss the "suits."

With Clive barely dead, Bob Lefsetz immediately released a blast furnace of vitriol towards him. Most reader comments sided with Bob but there were some who vehemently disagreed. I think he snubbed "little Bob" at one time.
