A old friend and fellow Todd Rundgren fan reminded me via a Facebook message about a collection of Japanese artists reinventing over 30 songs from Rundgren's catalogue. I had forgotten about this, but I did indeed own it. That collection took me to another collection of Todd covers called "For The Love Of Todd," which like the former from Japan, and honestly most tribute collections, is hit or miss. But the ones that hit were worth the time, like The Spongetones' Jamie Hoover's take on "Izzat Love" originally found on 1974's "Todd" album.
I've posted both for your listening pleasure.

Jaime Hoover is one of my favorite guitarists. His work with Spongetones, solo, Don Dixon, Marti Jones, Bill Lloyd, and Orange Humble Band is consistently tasty. Not flashy, just right all the time.
A late birthday treat for Todd! And happy birthday to the Sony Walkman, first introduced on July 1, 1979. Much more significant to me than the boombox: portable private music.
I just quickly skimmed over this collection after reading your post cause I haven't listened to it in years. Hit or miss for sure, with the biggest hit for me being P. Hux's There Goes My Inspiration, and the biggest miss (by far) being Mitch Cooper's Hello It's Me... ouch, it hurts!
Also, hats off to Holsapple for his slooooow version of Couldn't I Just Tell You.
