"Spring Cleaning With Neil Finn" : THE WEEKEND MIX
With a new Crowded House CD, "Intriguer" just out in Australia, and due out here next month, I thought I'd gather together an hour's worth of odds and enz, from the Split Enz/House member, singer/songwriter Neil Finn. He's been a fave since I first heard "I Got You" way back when.
I'm not about to review the new record just yet, though after a few days with it, it did make me feel like I may need a few more days with it. More on that closer to the U.S street date.
Rather than put together a collection of songs that were easily attainable elsewhere, I went the oddities route, sort of a "spring cleaning" of rarities. These tracks were pulled from live fan club CDs, videos, BBC radio broadcasts and stray compilations. Some tracks date back as far as 1986, with a couple recorded at CBGBs, while two tracks from "Intriguer" are from a BBC concert aired just last month.
Hope you dig it.

Sal,
ReplyDeleteI'm diggin the mix. Many thanks.
If you watch Letterman tonight Fred Eaglesmith is the music. Fred sometimes get slotted in the Americana or Country categories but I believe he transcends classification. If it ain't past your bedtime check him out.
Have a great weekend.
Best,
Thanks! I lost my Neil boot with Billie Jean. Didn't it also have "I Can See Clearly Now"? I am pretty sure I bought it at this store on the upper west side....
ReplyDeleteThanks, Sal. I need Neil!
ReplyDeletenice as always thanks mr. wood
ReplyDeleteHiya Sal,
ReplyDeleteWow, following on from JSM's comment, Eaglesmith sure was the bee's knees on Letterman! I was proud of him for making such a strong impression in his first network TV appearance, after so many years in the trenches. Letterman showing that he liked a music act is today's equivalent to when Johnny used to call a new comedian over to sit down.
Meanwhile, I thought of you and your Todd-fan followers when I saw this post on Nathan's Rock Moat (awesome blog), in case you missed it; Todd Rundgren at the Roxy in LA in '78. Enjoy!

Thanks for the link to Nathan, POP C.
ReplyDeleteThat Todd show was in my future plans. May still do it.
